Bu sendrom alkolik bireylerde toplumun geriye kalan\u0131ndan 8-10 kat daha fazla g\u00f6r\u00fclmektedir. Ayn\u0131 zamanda \u015fiddetli gastrointestinal sorunlar\u0131 olan, hematolojik a\u00e7\u0131dan \u00f6l\u00fcmc\u00fcl hastal\u0131klar\u0131 olan, ila\u00e7-uyu\u015fturucu kullanan ve AIDS olan bireylerde de g\u00f6r\u00fclmektedir. Tedavi edilmedi\u011fi s\u00fcrece bu Wernicke Korsakoff sendromu olan bireylerin %20\u2019si hayat\u0131n\u0131 kaybetmektedir.
